BIODAQUA Meetings

Draft Agenda for BIODAQUA Startup Meeting

Athens February 2002

Meeting on Sunday 17th will take place in the TITANIA Hotel
Meetings on Monday (18th) and Tuesday (19th) will take place in the Agricultural University of Athens Some partners are scheduled to arrive on Saturday and others on Sunday. The agenda has therefore been made in an attempt to maximise partner contacts and to cover as much ground as possible.

There are three types of contracts which have to be considered:

  1. partner agreements, which will be different for the Canadian and the European partners-the European partners have not yet had a joint meeting to consider these and so time will have to be set aside for this;
  2. Mobility agreements which concern the student exchanges, and which will have to include quite a variety of topics, and examples of which will be made available during the meeting

However, since credit transfer can be one of the most difficult aspects of the Joint Institutional Agreements and Memoranda of understanding, time must be spent on drawing up a joint agreed syllabus, based on courses that are already being run on both sides of the Atlantic, and bearing in mind that credit transfer is an essential part of the project.

It seems likely that M.Sc courses will be easiest to plan for, while under-graduate courses may run into difficulties which are caused by aspects such as entry requirements, and the language of delivery.

Partners should already have sent details of their courses in advance of the meeting, so that these can be circulated to all participants in advance. I suggest that we do need, initially, paper copies of relevant courses. I will undertake to provide photocopies, but only if the material reaches Prof. Papoutsoglou by Thursday Feb. 14, I have already circulated a draft questionnaire and look forward to receiving the Completed questionnaires at the meeting.
